Should You Try Learning Time Management Skills Without Using A Time Management Chart?

Step 1 - Find Your Desires

One of the more simple time management skills involves finding out what you really want. "What do you mean 'really'?" I mean looking at your values and finding desires that agree with them.

"How do I find my values?" Take the first step (organize my life) here - and come back when you're finished.

Once you've opened the time management chart, choose either Style 1 or Style 2 (whichever works better for you) and after putting in your values, write down what you want and what you don't want!

"What I don't want?" It will help you take a look at what you're doing that's going against your values. If you're beating yourself up inside because you're doing things that go against what you believe...it's time to admit it and to do something about it!

Step 2 - Fill Out Your Schedule With 'Style 1'

The time management chart has two schedule styles. In Style 1 it is broken down into two parts:

Your current weekly schedule is what your current schedule is like. Once you fill it out you'll find some free time that you can use to do what it is you want.

Your desired weekly schedule is what you want your schedule to be like by whichever date you set for yourself (I like setting it up for my 90 day challenges, like Bodyforlife) where I write down my future schedule once I get started on it.)

You can find what works for you. Each schedule has 4 parts:

The Style 1 schedule will calculate the time for you!

Step 3 - Fill out Your Schedule With 'Style 2'

If you have simple time management skills, then Style 2 would work better for you. It's a more simple chart where you simply fill out what you're doing.

If you have very basic time management and organization skills then don't even worry about prioritizing your tasks just yet. Simply write down what you're currently doing from 'what time' to 'what time' and then re-write it with how you'd ideally want to do it.

Step 4 - Prioritize Your Tasks

When it comes to simple time management skills, you want to prioritize your tasks as well. Simply combining numbers and letters to give them priority works well (where A-1 has highest priority and Z-20 has the least)!

"Prioritize them based on what?" You want to prioritize them based on your values. So again go to Part 1 - organize my life to learn more about finding and setting your values.
