Find The Personal Development Strategy For You That is a Superb Fit!
Finding Your personal development strategy is the first step you take when you develop a personal development plan - it's how you'll do what you'll do!
For us to find your snug strategy we first need to find out what kind of personality you have.
For this I will use the One Minute Millionaire's 4 personality types and we'll be working with them. They are:
- The hare - Thinks randomly, is creative but gets bored quickly.
- The owl - Prioritizes and plans success strategies.
- The turtle - Slow and steady wins the race and is a nay-sayer. Believes in tradition.
- The squirrel - Detail-oriented person and good at step-by-step. Very methodical and logical.
Which one suits you best? Let's find out where you stand and work on how to develop a personal development plan for you!
The Hare - Thinks Randomly, is Creative, But Gets Bored Quickly!
If you can relate to the 'hare' then I recommend having a personal development strategy that is filled with games and prizes! You want to mix up your routine for personal development (which you probably do anyway without noticing!) ;-)
The difference is that you'll be in control which is what you want. So mix things up and keep yourself entertained! "How?" Be creative! ;-)
Are you working out in the gym for your 90 day health plan? Getting bored with the workout routine? How about changing it up? Mix up the muscle groups or the style of workout!
Or if you're bored with the gym, then go to a new gym! Keep it exciting! ;-) Note: Are you getting bored with working out lately? Remind yourself of why you got into working out in the first place!
The Owl - Prioritizes and Plans Success Strategies!
For those of you who are 'owls' then I'd recommend finding a system that has proven results and following it as your personal development strategy.
All the processes and tools are set up for you already so all you need to do is choose! Looking to be more fit? How about following the bodyforlife system?
Looking to make more money? I recommend learning how to make extra money from home. How about your relationships? There are social skill models out there that will get you meeting new people.
I'm predominantly an 'owl', and I enjoy prioritizing my time for my goals.
The Turtle - Slow and Steady Wins The Race!
I remember dating a woman who was mainly a 'turtle' (personality-wise and NOT looks wise!) ;-) She would spend time everyday working on her goal of speaking English more fluently and would always carry her English book with her.
From watching her I learned that 'turtles' get the most out of their personal development strategy by making time everyday for what's important to their success and focusing on the long term rewards!
Most importantly, 'turtles' need to understand themselves and accept that they are 'long-term' people. I recommend making a step-by-step! personal development strategy!
The Squirrel - Detail-oriented Person and Loves Doing Things Step-by-step!
'Squirrels' are great at planning their personal development strategy but they have a hard time seeing the big picture! If you're a squirrel, I recommend focusing on what your big picture is and having that goal set before you get into the details.
That way you avoid the pain of working step-by-step towards a goal that your personal development plan isn't aiming towards. That being said, the ideal personal development strategy is detail-oriented and focuses on the big picture!
I wish I was more like a squirrel! :(Summary
So there you have it - knowing your personality traits, being able to both take advantage of it and know your short-comings will make sure you develop a personal development plan that suits you comfortably!
